The Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon is one of America’s great natural treasures, carved out over 6 million years by the Colorado River. The Grand Canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, ranges in width from 4 to 18 miles (6.4 to 29 kilometers), and attains a depth of more than a mile (1.6 km), making it one of the deepest on earth. Attracting 5 million visitors to the Canyon annually, it was a favorite of Teddy Roosevelt who visited several times. Aside from casual sightseeing from the South Rim (averaging 7000 feet (2100 meters) above sea level), whitewater rafting, hiking and running are especially popular. Hundreds of fit climbers successfully make the trek from the rim down on foot to the river and back up every year. Tourists wishing for a more vertical perspective can board helicopters and small airplanes in Las Vegas and Phoenix for canyon flyovers.

Travel Tips

Travel Auction

By now you’ve probably used an online booking site like Expedia or Travelocity. These sites are easy to use and often offer great deals on travel packages, hotels, car rentals, and flights. But, there is an even more fun and easy way to book your travels online! Consider participating in a travel auction! Online travel auction sites allow users to bid on a variety of travel deals and may offer greater savings than other online travel sites. Just like any other auction site, users search for and then bid on specific “items” during the bidding period, when the bidding period ends the user with the highest bid wins the item. Typically, travel details are entered after a winner is chosen.

Here are some helpful tips for using a travel auction site:

· Be patient. Travel auction sites are getting very popular and some people are bidding way over cost but deals can still be found if you are patient.

· Read all the fine print, as there may be taxes and fees that can increase the price. Sometimes the increase can be quite significant so you should consider the total cost (after tax and fees) when bidding for an item.

· Be flexible. Travel auctions are not ideal for travelers that require traveling on specific dates. Sometimes you may purchase the item and then chose dates at a later date.

· It may be helpful to know on average what the cost would be through a travel agent or other site. If the bids get too high, it may be easier to go elsewhere.

· See if there are any auction alert systems available on the site. Use this function to track your auctions. If available, it may be beneficial to see how items have been selling in the past. This can help you establish a maximum bidding price.

Sometimes booking travel and planning may be boring and tedious but with travel auctions, you can have fun while getting a great deal. To get started check out skyauctions.com!

Wisconsin Travel

Milwaukee, Wisconsin, known as the “pleasant land” by its Algonquian settlers, remains true to its namesake. Milwaukee sits comfortably in the Great Lakes Region near Lake Michigan; its beautiful seasons can be experienced throughout the year at the Milwaukee County parks, where you can picnic, sunbathe, ice skate, or disc golf. The city has even established free wireless networks in Cathedral Square and Pere Marquette Park. With the Milwauke Community Sailing Center nearby, you have easy access to recreational sailing as well! Try golfing at the Brown Deer Park Golf Course or walking the premier Milwaukee County Zoo for a day of fun. The majority of Milwaukeans are surprisingly college students. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is the only public university, however Marquette University is one of the largest private Jesuit universities in the United States. Academia is highly valued, and Milwaukee Public Schools is the one of the largest districts in the nation. One of the most well known attractions is the Milwaukee Art Museum, with runners up including the America’s Black Holocaust Museum and Discovery World. For continually new entertainment options, check out the Bradley Center; the Milwaukee Bucks, Admirals, and Golden Eagles all host sporting events, plus the center hosts concerts, BMX, ice skating and more! With so many sporting events, it’s easy to see why Milwaukee is known as the beer capital of the world, producing some of America's largest brewers -- Pabst, Schlitz, Miller, and Blatz. Milwaukee is the “City of Festivals,” and is best known for its annual Summerfest, the largest music festival in the world. Over a million visitors flock to the Henry Maier Festival Grounds for this one-of-a-kind family affair. Whether you love the outdoors or choose to cuddle up to a warm fire and gaze at beautiful sunsets, Milwaukee, Wisconsin aims to please.

The state of Wisconsin is a place where visitors can relax and get away from it all while enjoying clean air, natural beauty, and a wide variety of accommodations, and the service of friendly folks whose pride in their land is evident from the number of parks and conservation efforts supported throughout the state. In fact, the state’s 98 parks and recreation areas attract millions of visitors per year. Its location on the clean, clear waters of the Great Lakes offer opportunities for many types of watersports and recreational activities. And its 10,000 miles of rivers, streams, and creeks are renowned for cold water trout fishing at its finest. A leisurely drive can take visitors to the state’s many picturesque apple orchards where fresh apples make some of the most delicious apple pies on the planet. Here, Wisconsin’s fall festivals celebrate numerous apple products where festivities, food tastings, live music, arts, and crafts are sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face. Wisconsin cheese tastings are also sure to please. A trip to famed Lambeau Field, a.k.a. the frozen tundra, is the place to catch an exciting Green Bay Packers game, where the fans get into the game almost as much as the players! Its cities Madison, the state capital, Oshkosh, and of course, Milwaukee, all offer unique forms of entertainment, dining, lodging, and shopping.
